  --by bus:
  You could take bus at Taipei Main Station or other bus stops.

  (1)  You could take Bus 52, 253, 280, 284, 290, 311, 505, 907, 0南, or 指南1 and get off at Long An Elementary School(龍安國小).

  (2) Bus 3, 15, 18, 52, 72, 74, 211, 235, 237, 278, 295, and 626 will take you to Da-an Park (大安森林公園).

 (3) Bus 253, 280, 290, 311, 505, 642, 0南, 指南1, and 指南5 will take you to the intersection of Heping and Xinsheng Intersection (和平新生路口). 

 (4) Bus 3, 15, 18, 74, 235, 237, 254, 278, 295, 907, 291, and 672 could take you to Wenzhou jiekou (溫州街口). 

 (5) Bus 52, 253, 280, 284, 290, 291, 311, 505, 642, 907, 0南, and 指南1 could take you to Civil Service Development Institute (公務人力發展中心).

Take the GREEN LINE and get off the MRT at Exit 2 of Taipower Building Station. Walk along Xin Hai Road for 10 to 15 minutes. Turn left at Xin Sheng South Road and you'll see Howard International House.

B. For domestic participants who do not live in Taipei:

Accomodations: Activities Center of the Academia Sinica

There are 72 single rooms, 54 double-rooms and one suite in the Activities Center. To book rooms, you may either ask your Institute or visit the Academia Sinica English web page for booking on-line. The Activities Center is a convenient place to stay for short periods of time while looking for more permanent housing. One can also reserve a room here through an Institute in Academia Sinica. Some guests stay for a long period of time, but if the Center fills up with guests and you have been there for more than a month, you may be asked to leave.

Each guestroom at the activities center provides: a television, a refrigerator, a telephone, an electronic water boiler, wireless/Internet access, separate toilet and bathroom facilities, a hair dryer, and other facilities that you would need when staying there.
Please notice that the guestrooms do not offer meals and that credit cards are not acceptable.

C. Shopping & Restaurants:

1. Academia Sinica General Store (中研院福利社)--To get to Academia Sinica General Store, take the stairs to the right of the post office. The store carries packaged food items (crackers, instant noodles, juice) and daily necessities (toilet paper, toothpaste etc.). You need to bring your own bags, because the store does not provide them. Opening Hours: Mon.- Fri. 09:30 ~ 16:30
2. Chinese Restaurant(中餐廳)--This is located on the first floor of the Activities Center. This restaurant offers breakfast, Chinese buffet lunch, quick meals, noodles, snacks and banquet catering. Hours of operation: Breakfast: 07:30 ~ 09:00; Lunch: 11:30 ~ 13:30; Dinner: 17:00 ~ 20:30
3. Coffee shop(西餐&簡餐)--This is also located on the first floor of Activities Center and offers coffee, tea, cold drinks, cakes and set meals such as sandwich for breakfast or Asian style noodles as well as rice courses and steak. Hours of operation: 09:00 ~ 22:00
4. European-Style Restaurant (歐式餐廳)--This restaurant is located behind the Activities Center and features a salad bar and soup and main dishes for lunch and dinner. The food here is more expensive, but is one of the few local venues for western cooking. Hours of operation: Lunch: 11:30 ~ 14:00; Dinner: 17:30 ~ 20:30.
5. Vegetarian Self-Serve Restaurants (素食餐廳)--You could find one behind the Institute of Ethnology. (1) Go out the main gate and turn right. Pass by the Hu-Shih Elementary School (on your left) and cross the street. (2) If you head for the vegetarian restaurant from the IEAS, just turn right and go straight until you arrive at the side gate. Then, turn right and go straight, and you would see the vegetarian restaurant within less than three-minute walk. It's on the right side.

The vegetarian self-serve restaurant is on your left-hand side. The prices are reasonable, and the owner is friendly and trustworthy (You do not have to worry about meat products mixed with the vegetables). Like most self-serve restaurants, price is based on weight. Notice that Chinese vegetarianism prohibits the use of garlic and onions, and relies heavily on substitute meat. **There’s also one inside the Activities Center Chinese Restaurant, but vegetarian food is served only during the lunch hours.
